The Granny Smith apple is considered the best pie apple in the world. The skin is an attractive bright green color, which is retained long after harvest. This is a firm, sweet/tart apple that is good for eating, cooking, and sauce. Granny Smith is a      good choice for both hot or cold climates. It ripens August to September. The Granny Smith apple is self-fertile, doesn't need a pollinator tree.

Sowing instructions

Put the seeds in a container or zip lock bag with some soil. Place the container or bag in your refrigerator for about 3 months. If you chose to add soil you can moisten the soil after about 10 or 11 weeks. Keep a good watch on the bag and let fresh air in often. You should start to see leaves popping out of the soil in a few weeks if everything went right.
Alternatively plant the seeds directly into pots or in the ground in late fall to expose them to the natural winter chill.
